Today, the San Francisco 49ers fired head coach Mike Nolan and replaced him with Mike Singletary. Some reports surfaced that Nolan was going to be fired after Sunday's game vs Seattle since the team has a bye the following week.
Mike Nolan is now the third head coach to be fired in 2008. Scott Linehan and Lane Kiffin were fired by the Rams and Raiders. In both instances, they were replaced by coaches that were already on the staff.
Nolan was 18-37 in his coaching tenure with the Niners.
